Wastewater and Solid Waste Management in Provincial Centres

In 2005 the Vietnamese and German Government have agreed upon the development programme "Wastewater and Solid Waste Management in Provincial Centers". Its objective is to address the environmental challenges in Vietnam by providing advisory services to institutions and companies at local and provincial level as well as legal/regulatory consultation at national level (Technical Cooperation - GIZ) in tandem with investment measures by KfW Entwicklungsbank (Financial Cooperation). The co-operation programme is implemented in currently nine provincial cities. The duration of the programme is set to last for 9 years, from 2005 - 2014.

Management Structure

The programme "Wastewater and Solid Waste Management in Provincial Centres in Vietnam" is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Construction (MoC) and The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Ministry of Construction (MoC) is the lead executing agency.
