Training Course on Operation and Maintenance of the Sewerage Network in Hue City

To respond to the demand of VWSA members in the Central Region, on 14-15 November, 2016, with the support of WMP, VWSA organized the Training Course on Operation and Maintenance of the Sewerage Network. This is the 7th in the series of 11 modules of the VWSA training programme for its members under the support of GIZ. The training course took place at Hue Urban Works and Environment Joint Stock Company.

Representatives from the leadership of Hue Urban Works and Environment Joint Stock Company, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuoi – Deputy Head of the Training Division of VWSA, Ms. Pham Thi Van Lan – Training Coordinator of WMP and other guests took part in the opening ceremony.

The training course attracted the participation of 37 learners who are deputy directors, team leaders, deputy team leaders of wastewater divisions, staff, technicians and inspectors from 4 VWSA members in the Central Region of Vietnam, i.e.: Quy Nhon Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, Hue Urban Works and Environment Joint Stock Company, Quang Ngai Urban Environment Joint Stock Company and Da Nang Drainage and Sewerage Company.

Three lecturers of the training courses were Phan Le Minh Hoang, Dao Duy Khoi and Nguyen Van Nam. They were all trained during the ToT courses organized by VWSA and GIZ as part of WMP.

The training course lasted for 2 days with active contribution of all participants. It covered specific contents including overall drainage and sewerage system, wastewater treatment plant, problems in operation of the network, operation and maintenance procedures… In particular, the participants were trained in planning skills for operation and maintenance of the drainage and sewerage network.

Thanks to the careful preparation of the training expert team and interactive teaching method of the trainers, the training course was kept excited from the beginning to the end and proactive contribution of the participants was observed. This has confirmed, once again, the practicality and efficiency of the learners-centered approach.

All of the participants were given certificates of attendance. They all appreciated the contents and methodology of the training course as well as the practical knowledge and skills brought to them by the training. They expressed their wish to participate in the coming training events hosted by VWSA.
